With meticulous hand crafting and attention to detail, the 2005 Ausonius represents what we think to be the finest release in its history. Extended hang time, cool nights and perfect harvesting conditions all paved the way for what has resulted in an amazingly well-balanced, age-worthy wine.
This young “Bordeaux style” blend has a massive nose of Cassis, leather, and spice. A plush mouthful of black cherries, chocolate, and spice lay on the palate. The tannins are firm and focused, with a hint of herb framing the layers of fruit. Flavors build on the palate with a supple density that fills the mouth. It will continue to mature in the bottle for 10-15 years.
